First Day of Spring at Knypersley Reservoir

After a few days on bed rest trying to get rid of this pesky cold yesterday we decided to enjoy the first day of spring with a walk around Knypersley Reservoir with Chiara and Harlow.

Knypersley Reservoir was built in 1827 to supply water to the Caldon Canal, along with Stanley Pool and Rudyard Lake. The reservoir is the only one along the course of the River Trent.

There are two adjacent lakes at the reservoir, the upper pool being the Serpentine Pool which feeds the lower pool. The reservoir is currently operated and managed by the Canal & River Trust.

The first day of spring is also called the spring equinox. Spring is known as the season of rebirth , renewal and regrowth. At the spring equinox it is believed that days are close to 12 hours and increase in length as we go through the season. Spring is common for unstable weather especially in mountainous areas due to snowmelt being accelerated by warm rain.

We hope you enjoyed the first day of spring too

Lots of Love
